Aramaic Lord’s Prayer Series—past event

Nine weekly sessions every Monday from 7:00-8:30PM Eastern time

March 28 to May 23, 2022

Attend in person in Pittsford or on Zoom. In-person attendance is available in a limited capacity.

The original language spoken by Jesus was Aramaic. Neil Douglas-Klotz is a Sufi teacher, author, an expert in language, and holds a Ph.D. in Religious studies. He has returned us to a close approximation of the Lord’s Prayer in Aramaic and shared many possible direct English translations which reveal a more “mystical, feminist, and cosmic Christ.” Klotz has also put the lines of this powerful prayer to music and added movement for a more fully embodied experience. During our sessions, we will:

  • Feel the power of the sounds on our body, mind, and heart as they are recited and chanted with or without movement.
  • Experience the expansion of meaning that arises from these and our own translations.
  • Begin to incorporate these discoveries into our everyday life aided by suggested practices.
  • Share and learn from each other.

Sliding scale of $25 to $50 (USD) plus your individual purchase of Neil Douglas-Klotz’s book “Prayers of the Cosmos” (optional but recommended and not necessary). Study sheets will be provided to you.
